📍Dashboard

The dashboard is the first page you see when you sign in to the application, it contains multiple fields that display information upon entering the VIN like the year, make and model as well as the engine and transmission (automatic or manual), things you would typically get when you decode a VIN. All of the vehicle traits that cannot be changed are not editable in the application.

The VIN search box can be found in the navigation bar at the top of the page. Enter the VIN and click search, once the VIN has been searched you can click the blue copy button next to the search button to easily copy the VIN to your clipboard to use in other third-party applications if needed.

Using a wireless barcode scanner makes this much easier and they are cheap.

There are also 4 other fields available to the user that are editable and they are currently the oil type, oil capacity, oil filter part number and tire pressure. Any of these fields may display the correct information if another user has entered it otherwise it will display "N/A".

If the field displays "N/A" or you believe that the information given is incorrect you may enter the correct information into the field and click update. When a user clicks the update button it uploads the information to the Master-Tek database where it can then be accessed by other users who enter the VIN of a similar vehicle. You can be assured that you clicked the update button and be ready to scan another VIN when you see the green label below the navigation.

When "N/A" is displayed it means that no other user has entered any information pertaining to the vehicle that you entered and that you are likely the first person to search this vehicle. This is an opportunity for you to either leave the fields as "N/A" or enter the correct information and submit it to the database by clicking the update button for other users to be able to see.

There are two larger boxes at the bottom of the panel labeled VIN Notes and Model Notes. These fields display exactly what they suggest and update anytime they are changed and the update button is clicked. The VIN Notes store notes to a specific vehicle via the vehicle identification number (VIN) and will be displayed anytime that specific VIN is searched in the application. The Model Notes display note specifically to that model like torque specs or key notes suggested by other users, this too can be updated by clicking the update button. If the contents of either of the two larger boxes exceeds the viewable window you may scroll or make the box larger by dragging from the bottom right corner.

You can learn more about how all the information is stored in the database and what is required from the application to display the specific information for each vehicle by reading the Formulas page under General to the left of your screen or by clicking here.

The vehicle history panel displays the history for the VIN, so if you or any other user of this application has entered information while using the same VIN that you entered it will display when it was last entered into the application and the tek-id of the user who entered it allowing you to message them any questions from past work. This is in a state of question right now as is I am not sure if I am going to keep it active in the application but am willing to listen to user input on whether to keep it or put something else there.
